DEUTSCH Contact Crimping Instructions (English)

Learn how to crimp our DEUTSCH contacts. Watch this video for step-by-step instructions on crimping the contacts using hand tools.

Contact Crimping

  1. Strip ¼” (6.3 mm) insulation from the wire.
  2. Raise the selector knob and rotate until the arrow is aligned with the wire size to be crimped.
  3. Loosen the lock nut, and turn to adjust the screw until it stops.
  4. Insert contact with barrel up. Turn adjusting screw counterclockwise until the contact is flush with the indentor cover. Tighten the lock nut.
  5. Insert wire into contact. Contact must be centered between indicators. Close handles until the crimp cycle is completed.
  6. Release the handles and remove crimped contact.
  7. Inspect the terminal to ensure that all strands are in the crimp barrels. NOTE: The tool must be readjusted for each type/size of contact.
