Collection and Recycling Arrangements in Ireland
The legislation for managing Waste Electrical and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) in Ireland is called the S.I. No. 149/2014 - European Union (Waste Electrical and Electronical Equipment) Regulations 2014, commonly known as the WEEE Regulations.
This legislation sets out the rules and the legal obligations for anyone who makes, imports or sells EEE in Ireland. This legislation also sets the rules for
collection and recycling of WEEE.
For equipment that you buy from TE, we are required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of that EEE when it eventually becomes waste.
You also have a role to play in ensuring that WEEE is reused and recycled safely. So, if you choose not to return WEEE to us then you should not dispose of it in your bin. The crossed out wheeled-bin symbol on the product reminds users not to dispose WEEE in the bin. You should ensure that the WEEE is collected separately and sent for proper treatment. WEEE contains hazardous substances and if not managed and treated safely it can cause pollution and damage human health.
Our approach
- TE pays for the costs of collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of the WEEE to meet the targets set by the Waste Management (WEEE) Regulations;
- TE pays for the costs of data management and reporting to the WEEE Register Society to demonstrate compliance with all administrative requirements of the Waste Management (WEEE) Regulations
TE has established a recycling contract with the European Advanced Recycling Network (EARN) and will cover any costs of transport, treatment, recycling and recovery of the equipment on arrival at the EARN recycling facility in Ireland.
WEEE Registration Number: TEC1739
