Overview

Bird guano and other contaminants accumulating on power infrastructure can create conductive paths across insulators, increasing the risk of flashover and unplanned outages. Utilities and transmission operators need reliable solutions to mitigate contamination and maintain system performance.

The RRGS shield addresses this challenge with a unique design that protects the insulator string from faecal and other soluble contaminants originating above the insulator. The two-piece shield design attaches easily with plastic bolts and nuts around the top of the insulator, enabling quick installation and efficient field deployment.

TE manufactures designs for porcelain, glass, polymeric, and silicone insulator strings, with shield diameters available in both 450 mm (18") and 600 mm (24") options to suit a range of applications.
