RP-SMA RF Connectors

RP-SMA RF Connectors (Reverse Polarity SubMiniature Version A connectors) are threaded coaxial connectors used in devices to ensure compliance with FCC regulations. Unlike standard SMA connectors, RP-SMA connectors have a reversed pin/socket gender in which the male connector has a central receptacle rather than a pin. RP-SMA connectors were originally designed to prevent users from attaching high-gain professional antennas to consumer-grade wireless equipment, which would violate FCC regulations. Common applications include Wi-Fi routers, wireless access points, FPV drones, and IoT devices.
