TE Connectivity, a world leader in connectors and sensors, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the business unit for plastic solutions in air and fluid connection systems of HENN Connector Group, a provider of high-tech connection systems for the automotive industry. Through this acquisition, TE will expand its technology portfolio and strengthen its position as a partner for the next generation of electrified, software-defined and increasingly automated vehicles. The acquisition is expected to close in TE’s fiscal fourth quarter, ending September 2026.
The acquisition comes at a time of significant technological transformation in the automotive industry. As vehicle powertrains become increasingly electrified, software-defined vehicle architectures continue to evolve, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) become more sophisticated, the demand for integrated vehicle platforms is growing. In addition to electrical power and data transmission, solutions for thermal management as well as air and fluid connectivity are becoming increasingly important.
The expanded product portfolio will be integrated into TE's global offering under the name HENN Fluid Line and the company will open a new office location in Dornbirn, Austria
The technologies developed by HENN complement TE's existing portfolio with solutions particularly relevant for thermal management and compact, functionally integrated vehicle architectures. The expanded portfolio includes quick-connect solutions for fluid applications compliant with VDA and SAE standards, as well as integrated assemblies that combine electrical connectors with interfaces for water, air or coolant. These solutions help consolidate functions, reduce installation space, and simplify vehicle assembly.
"The future of the automotive industry will be defined by highly integrated systems," said Matthias Lechner, senior vice president of business development, TE Connectivity. "By expanding our portfolio, we are strengthening our ability to combine electrical, data and fluid connectivity solutions into integrated systems. This enables us to help our customers efficiently meet the requirements of future vehicle generations."
The demand for reliable cooling solutions is increasing, particularly in electrified vehicles. High-voltage batteries, electric drive systems, inverters, charging units and electronic control units all require effective thermal management. At the same time, modern advanced driver assistance systems are placing greater demands on the supply and cleaning of sensors, making more highly integrated system solutions essential.
HENN is recognized as an established specialist in air and fluid connection technologies, particularly for its high-quality quick-connect couplings used in engine cooling and charge-air systems.
"This business unit was built at HENN through a strong commitment to innovation and technological expertise. By joining TE, it will now benefit from a global platform where these solutions can be scaled internationally, combined with electrical applications, and integrated into new vehicle platforms as complete system solutions," said Martin Ohneberg, CEO, HENN Connector Group.
For HENN, the transaction also represents another step in the company's strategic focus. HENN will continue to operate independently and will further strengthen and expand its activities, particularly in premium metal coupling systems and non-mobility applications.
Financial terms and conditions of the transaction were not disclosed.
