Access to science, technology, engineering and math education

The TE Connectivity Foundation connects and strengthens global communities through access to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education.  With a focus on women and underserved populations, the foundation maintains meaningful, long-term partnerships with several STEM-focused organizations.  

Girl Up

Girl Up is committed to driving equity for girls and women in spaces where they are unheard or underrepresented. It operates a global network of regional affiliates who reach 300,000+ girls in 150+ countries with initiatives to expand their skills,rights and opportunities to lead. 

Girl Up’s STEM for Social Good programming provides girls with critical soft and technical STEM-related skills, as well as mentorship and leadership training. The aim is to close the gender STEM gap by inspiring girl-identifying youth to pursue higher education and careers in the field. As a Girl Up Visionary Partner, the TE Connectivity Foundation supports this programming, as well as online resources for young people to connect, learn about gender justice and build community.

SMASH

SMASH is leveling the playing field for high school and college students through academic learning and experiential engagement, which prepares them for the tech workforce. They aim to create a computer science ecosystem where every student can thrive in the global economy, enriching communities and workplaces with well-prepared,competitive leaders who represent broad perspectives and sectors of society.
 

With a focus on students of color, the organization offers programs in computer science that combine intensive education and access to tailored resources. The TE Connectivity Foundation supports this work with grants for SMASH’s summer academies and hackathons. The funding also helps maintain the alumni network, which provides ongoing support to those who complete the program, maximizing the likelihood that they progress into STEM careers.

Support from the TE Connectivity Foundation has strengthened SMASH’s ability to deliver high-quality STEM programs for high school and college students. This partnership supports virtual and hands-on learning experiences that help students build technical, leadership, and problem-solving skills as they prepare for college and future careers.

Technovation

Technovation is empowering young women aged 8-18 to become entrepreneurs and leaders in the tech space. In fact, in 2023, the organization set a goal to empower 25 million girls and young women. In teams, and with the support of volunteer mentors and parents, the girls code new mobile apps that address real-world problems. The TE Connectivity Foundation supports this program globally.   

 

To magnify their impact, in 2023, Technovation launched The AI Forward Alliance, a collaboration that exists to close the tech gender gap. As a founding member of the AI Forward Alliance, TE Connectivity Foundation's has empowered nearly 30,000 girls, alumnae, mentors, and judges to participate in Technovation's programs globally.

Clubes de Ciencias 

Clubes de Ciencia (Science Clubs International) leads STEM summer camps for teens throughout Mexico. With support from the TE Connectivity Foundation, they deliver more than 400 hands-on free workshops in 10 cities that help expand access to high-quality science education to youth from all socioeconomic backgrounds in Mexico. Since 2014, Clubes de Ciencia Mexico has reached more than 10,000 students, focusing on equity, public-school participation, and inspiring the next generation of scientists and innovators.  

The TE Connectivity Foundation’s support has been instrumental in helping Clubes de Ciencia México bring cutting-edge STEM education to students who might not otherwise have access to it. Their investment allows us to connect young people with scientists, hands-on learning, and real-world applications of science and research, building confidence and opening doors to future STEM careers.

Per Scholas 

Per Scholas delivers adult training in IT and computer skills, enabling more than 30,000 people launch successful careers in tech to date through no-cost technical training. The TE Connectivity Foundation has delivered support and funding to Per Scholas to help advance its Philadelphia campus and alumni program and support learners secure family-sustaining wages that contribute to long-term economic stability across the region.  

Support from the TE Connectivity Foundation has expanded Per Scholas Philadelphia’s ability to deliver no-cost technology training that connects local talent, particularly individuals from underserved communities, to in-demand tech careers. TE Connectivity Foundation’s investment strengthens Philadelphia’s workforce by equipping a growing number of learners with industry-recognized skills, certifications, and clear pathways to economic mobility.
