Richard Hirschmann Foundation and Award

– committed to promoting young talent

Together with the University of Stuttgart/Germany, Hirschmann Car Communication GmbH  has been supporting the Richard Hirschmann Foundation since 2007. Every year the foundation awards the renowned prize to four-five students from the University of Stuttgart.

Richard Hirschmann, who himself experienced a student life full of hardships, set up the foundation in 1969.

The aim was – and remains – to sponsor budding scientists and engineers. Richard Hirschmann placed the foundation in the hands of the Institute of High Frequency Technology at the University of Stuttgart, which has managed the foundation's assets ever since. The revenues are directed towards students chosen by the foundation board who are specializing in electrical engineering and information engineering.

Since 2014 the presentation of the Richard Hirschmann Prize has been organized from Hirschmann Car Communication and Hirschmann Automation and Control jointly.

For TE Connectivity's HIRSCHMANN MOBILITY brand (formerly Hirschmann Car Communication) the close cooperation with the Richard Hirschmann Foundation forms part of the recruitment strategy for attracting expert skills to the company, particularly among the next generation of up-and-coming young engineers. Some of the previous years' prize winners now work in our development departments, including in senior positions.

TE Connectivity's HIRSCHMANN MOBILITY is also in continuous dialogue with the University of Stuttgart, the Esslingen Institute of Technology and the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW), and is involved in numerous excursions, student research projects and various other projects, including education partnerships with schools.
