Overview

Our ASBP Pin Terminal Connectors enable transition between aluminum and copper conductors.

Our ASBP Pin Terminal Connectors are range-taking mechanical connectors that accommodate a range of cable sizes from #2 AWG solid to 750 kcmil concentric, stranded Class B. The Pin Terminals can be used for terminating solid, compact, compressed, and concentric stranded AAC as well as ACSR conductors.

The connector's body is manufactured from high conductivity aluminum designed for heavy-duty utility applications. The bores of the connector bodies have a unique grooved surface to enhance electrical contact and minimize resistance at the interface between the connectors and the conductors. The cable entry area is chamfered inside to provide easy cable insertion. The pin terminal connectors are tin-plated, which makes them suitable for the transition between aluminum and copper.

The Pin Terminal Connector's design incorporates shear head bolts, which ensures that the correct torque is applied and consequently the optimal contact force is generated to minimize connection resistance. The primary tool required to install the connector is a standard ratchet wrench with appropriate hexagonal sockets.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Can TE's Pin Terminal Connectors be used with TE's Raychem cable accessories?

Answer: Yes, our Pin Terminal Connectors are compatible with our heat shrink and cold-applied Raychem splices and termination kits for underground applications up to 35 kV.

Question: Which range of conductors can accommodate the shear bolt Pin Terminal Connectors?

Answer: Our Pin Terminal Connectors can accommodate a wide range of aluminum and copper conductors from #2 AWG compact stranded to 1000 kcmil concentric stranded class B.

Question: Is a torque wrench required to install the Pin Terminal Connectors?

Answer: Our Pin Terminal Connectors do not require the use of a torque wrench, the bolt head is pre-engineered to shear off at the appropriate torque level.

Question: What tools are needed to install the Pin Terminal Connectors?

Answer: Our Pin Terminal Connectors incorporate shear bolt heads. The shear bolts can be installed with an impact wrench or a standard ratchet.
