In an effort to improve procedural efficiencies and patient outcomes in the cathlab, the customer sought to develop an efficient "all-in-one" approach to stenting with its unique low profile stent and integrated delivery system. Addressing overall PTCA procedure time & cost, the system removes the need for multiple device "tools."Having developed the initial idea, the customer partnered with TE to design and develop a single delivery system, compatible with a matrix of self-expanding stents. Multiple delivery systems were counterintuitive to the primary goal of improved procedural efficiency.
Each stent posed a challenge towards the goal of a singular delivery system due to the varied differences in length, outside diameter, stent radial force, stent shape and end function. Multiple iterations of delivery systems were conceived, tested and evaluated before a final winning design was proposed for manufacture. Today, the novel integrated 'all-in-one" system is successfully helping to reduce the cost burden on stenting procedures in cath labs throughout the world. The customer continues to work with our design team to innovative further cost effective product solutions for PCI.
