Our Raychem HVBT High Voltage Busbar Insulation Tape is designed to combine the integrity of a heat shrink tubing with the versatility of wraparound products. This is quick and easy to install. Upon application of heat, the tapes shrink and the adhesive lining melts, amalgamating the overlapping layers to produce a complete lap to lap seal. A single layer of the high voltage busbar insulation tape, two-thirds overlapped, will provide AC voltage withstand (flashover protection) to at least 17.5 kV increasing to 36 kV if a second layer is applied.
Although the busbar insulation tape will adhere to itself and other insulating materials, it will not adhere to metal or porcelain, allowing easy removal for maintenance. This tape offers a simple and effective solution to the problems of retrofit insulation of busbars, particularly where existing equipment cannot be dismantled. It can be used for indoor and outdoor applications and are easily installed over a wide variety of shapes, including complex connections.
Compatible with all our Raychem medium voltage insulation enhancement systems
Easy to apply using readily available equipment
Indoor and outdoor use
Continuous operating temperature up to 90°C
Versatile and flexible at temperatures as low as -40°C
Question: Does TE offer installation training for TE’s Raychem HVBT High Voltage Busbar Insulation Tape?
Answer: Yes, we offer installation training for the products of our wildlife and asset protection solutions range, including High Voltage Busbar Insulation tapes. You can find more information on TE.com/trainingcenter.
Question: What are High Voltage Busbar Insulation Tape made of?
Answer: These tapes incorporate our Raychem heat shrink technology. They are made of specially-formulated thermoplastic polymer materials that will shrink to produce a complete lap to lap seal upon application of heat.
Question: What are the main advantages of the HVBT?
Answer: These insulation tapes are easy and quick to install, without the need for disconnection. A single layer of tape, two-thirds overlapped, can provide AC voltage withstand to at least 17.5 kV, increasing to 36 kV when a second layer is applied.
Question: Where can the High Voltage Busbar Insulation Tape be used?
Answer: This tape can be used for indoor and outdoor applications, and are easily installed over a wide variety of shapes, including complex connections. It offers a simple and effective solution to the problems of retrofit insulation of busbars, particularly where existing equipment cannot be dismantled.
