Overview

Our ASBT 2-Hole Terminal Lugs cover a wide cross-section range, are dual rated for Aluminum and Copper conductors, and help reduce inventory and prevent the risk of using the wrong conductor.
2-hole terminal lugs

Our ASBT 2-Hole Terminal Lugs are manufactured from seamless, high conductivity aluminum designed for heavy-duty utility applications. They are available in a 2-hole or 4-hole configuration. The bore of the connector body has a unique grooved surface to enhance electrical contact and minimize resistance at the interface between the terminal and the conductor. The cable entry area is chamfered inside to ease the cable insertion.

The 2-hole Terminal Lugs are easy to install even in tight spaces, as are all our mechanical connectors. The installation doesn’t require any specific tool, only a standard ratchet wrench with the appropriate hexagonal sockets. A holding tool is recommended to avoid the core bending of conductors and can be ordered under number (#IT-1000-019). Our shear bolt technology enables a fast and correct installation of the mechanical lugs and connectors: the heads of the bolts shear off when the needed torque is applied, ensuring an optimal electrical contact and minimizing connection resistance.

We extended our Terminal Lug range to the ASBT-2-4/0-Slim, which has been specifically optimized for compatibility with TE's Raychem Cold Shrink Termination Kits (CSTO-152, CSTI-152, CSTO-282, CSTI-282). Its slim design makes it easy to slide through the termination, for an easy and fast installation.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What is the primary application of TE's 2-Hole Terminal Lugs?

Answer: The primary application of our 2-Hole Terminal Lugs is power cable terminations, both underground and above ground, at voltages up to 69 kV.

Question: Can the 2-Hole Terminal Lugs be used with our Raychem cable accessories?

Answer: Yes, our 2-Hole Terminal Lugs are compatible with our Raychem heat shrink and cold shrink joint and termination kits for underground applications up to 35 kV.

Question: Which range of conductors can be used with the 2-Hole Terminal Lugs?

Answer: With only three connector sizes, a conductor range from #2 compact to 1250 kcmil concentric, stranded Class B, can be accommodated, thereby reducing inventory needs.

Question: Is a torque wrench required to install the 2-Hole Terminal Lugs?

Answer: No, our Terminal Lugs do not require the use of a torque wrench, they can be installed with an impact wrench or a standard ratchet.

Question: How will I know if the 2-Hole Terminal Lug is properly installed?

Answer: Our Terminal Lugs has been designed with shear bolt heads. They are pre-engineered to shear off when the appropriate torque level is reached, ensuring optimal contact force is generated to minimize resistance.
