At TE, we’re always pushing to save space and weight, but not at the expense of performance and reliability. The ASDD 7-11 connector does exactly that—and we look forward to seeing it on the track soon.

TE Connectivity (TE) has expanded our popular ASDD connector series to include a compact, size 7 shell. At just 80% the length of a standard size 8, the ASDD 7-11 makes connections in tight spaces easier than ever. It also boosts reliability with 11 sealed contacts—nearly double the industry standard. ASDD connectors have been a favorite among racing teams since their release. Aluminum alloy construction offers the strength of steel—without the weight or risk of rust. A conductive black zinc finish stops corrosion while maintaining precise tolerances. To top it all off, bonded and sealed inserts keep moisture, oil, and dust out of the picture. The new 7-11 size offers all of these advantages in an even smaller package.

Q&A With Paul Webb, Global Product Manager

1

What standards does the ASDD 7-11 connector meet?

The full range of TE's DEUTSCH Autosport products are designed for the harsh conditions of competitive motorsports. The range offers lightweight, sealed interconnects that allow teams to focus on racing rather than reliability. The ASDD 7-11 connector is tested to performance requirements of the MIL-DTL-38999 standard.

2

What areas or applications is the ASDD 7-11 connector particularly suited for?

These connectors are designed for applications where space and weight savings are paramount—from robots to racing yachts. On a car, ASDD 7-11 connectors can be used in applications such as front and rear suspension sensors, front wing sensors, steering and wheel angle sensors, and other critical areas that monitor performance.

3

How much weight does a ASDD 7-11 connector save compared to a standard size 8 connector?

By packaging the ASDD into a size 7 shell, we have been able to significantly reduce both size and weight. Compared to our ASDD 8-11, TE engineers have saved over 15% in weight and over 25% in length when mated, making this the smallest and lightest 11-way ASDD connector available.
