Application
In-Vehicle Networks
In-vehicle networks will need the lightest and leanest cable assemblies and connectors, and likely in ever denser configurations. TE Connectivity is helping the automotive industry make those trade-offs and optimizations, to get more data faster in the most power efficient way, but with less total material.
In-vehicle network links are cost-efficient solutions that can be used in distributed network architectures with medium-sized data volumes and low latencies. The automotive Ethernet is a key focus for in-vehicle networks because of its flexibility and scalability. Surround-view systems demonstrate the power of network solutions. They offer a cost-effective and scalable way to create different system variants with configurations for up to four connected satellite cameras. Building out these in-vehicle networks with automotive Ethernet-compliant connectors and wiring will support OTA software updates, creating advantages for service and repair. The amount of data an autonomous car is expected to generate is multiple terabytes a day. As a consequence, vehicles will need their networks to look much more like a data center’s Ethernet-based network. TE offers connector solutions to support in-vehicle network applications; typical applications and featured TE products include:

MATEnet Modular and Scalable Connectors
TE plays a major role in connecting critical electronic vehicle networks that enable transmission of data from sensors and systems. TE’s MATEnet modular and scalable connectors have been able to show a data transmission rate of 100 Mbit/s and 1 Gbit/s according to IEEE 100BASE-T1/1000BASE-T1. This can be achieved with standard automotive connectors based on TE’s miniaturized NanoMQS termination system in combination with unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable or shielded twisted-pair (STP) cable.

Through-Hole Resistors
A through-hole resistor is a fixed resistor that has long, pliable leads that can be stuck into a breadboard or hand- or wave-soldered into a printed circuit board. A through-hole resistor is used to reduce the flow of electrical current within a circuit. It’s commonly composed of carbon film, metal film, metal oxide film, thick film, or wirewound.
