SCT Heat Shrink Tubing : Insulation, strain relief and sealing of automotive wire splices and components.

SCT is a dual wall tubing designed to insulate and seal automotive wire splices and components made by ultrasonic welding, clip‐and‐dip, or soldering. Being semi‐ rigid it will also offer a degree of strain relief.

Overview

SCT has a tough outer wall made of radiation crosslinked, flame‐retardant, semi‐ rigid polyolefin. The inner wall is a unique, specially formulated hotmelt adhesive designed to function at an extended temperature range. The adhesive forms an outstanding barrier against moisture and automotive fluids. This barrier provides exceptional protection against corrosion.

Because SCT has a high 4:1 shrink ratio, only a few sizes are needed to cover a wide range of splice and component diameters.

Features

  • 4:1 shrink ratio allows a few sizes to cover a wide range of splice and component diameters.
  • Operating temperature from –40°C up to +150°C.
  • Minimum shrink temperature: +110°C.
  • Minimum full recovery temperature: +135°C.
  • Flammability Rating ASTM D2671.
  • RoHS compliant.

Benefits

  • Excellent environmental seal.
  • Mechanical protection against flexing, abrasion and cut-through.
  • Small cross-sectional profile.
  • Flame-retardant and mechanically tough, the tubing provides strain relief and abrasion protection of wire splices, terminals, and other components.
  • Thick adhesive liner forms an effective barrier against fluids and moisture and performs well at an extended temperature range.

Applications

  • Specially designed for insulation, strain relief and sealing of automotive wire splices and components in an underhood automotive environment.
  • Specially formulated to function at an extended temperature range.
