Overview

Our Raychem MWTM Medium-Wall Heat Shrink Tubings are compliant to RoHS and REACH regulations and approved for offshore applications.

Our Raychem MWTM Medium-Wall Heat Shrink Tubing combines the electrical and physical properties of cable over sheath and core insulation of low voltage cables with ruggedness and easy installation. This is widely used to insulate, protect and seal low voltage power cable joints and terminations, as well as many further applications in cable accessories and electrical connections. The Medium-Wall Heat Shrink Tubing is made of our Raychem heat shrink polymer that is halogen-free and stabilized against UV irradiation. During heating the medium-wall tubing shrinks to the original smaller diameter, fitting tightly over a wide range of cable sizes and cable accessories. At the same time, the tubing’s inner sealant wall gives a reliable moisture seal over even the most irregular shapes. The Medium-Wall Heat Shrink Tubing is available with a hot-melt sealant, both uncoated or coated. This tubing is field-proven to have long-term reliability in harsh climatic conditions and in polluted environments, and has an unlimited shelf-life when stored under normal conditions.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: For which application can TE’s Raychem MWTM Medium-Wall Heat Shrink Tubing be used?

Answer: Our Raychem Medium-Wall Heat Shrink Tubing is a general-purpose heat shrink tube that is normally used as core protection in low voltage termination kits. It is compliant with RoHS and REACH regulations. It is approved for offshore applications. RUS accepted as jacket restoration of JCN cable. Uncoated MWTM tubing (-U or -A/U) is or cable rejacketing only.

Question: With what type of cable can I use the Medium-Wall Heat Shrink Tubing?
Answer:
Our Medium-Wall Heat Shrink Tubing can be used with low, medium, and high voltage electrical joints and splices and terminations of a wide range of cable size diameter, thanks to a high shrink ratio.

Question: What is the Medium-Wall Heat Shrink Tubing made of?

Answer: This Medium-Wall Heat Shrink Tubing is made of our Raychem heat shrink material. It is a specially-formulated medium-wall, cross-linked polyolefin that shrinks to its original smaller extruded diameter when the heat is applied.

The heat shrink material is comprised of polymeric materials exposed to a high-energy electron beam that causes permanent cross-linking, or intermolecular joining, of adjacent molecules. Due to cross-linking, the heat shrink material loses its melting properties allowing it to be heated to temperatures beyond the crystalline melting point without melting. Above this temperature, heat shrink can be expanded and formed in shapes that will remain in position while the temperature decreases below the crystalline melting point again.

When properly installed, TE’s Raychem heat-shrinkable tubes are long-lasting products that will help you improve your grid connectivity and reliability for decades.

Question: Is TE's Raychem Medium-Wall Heat Shrink Tubing part of the installation training schedule from TE?

Answer: Yes, our Raychem Medium-Wall Heat Shrink Tubing is part of our training program. Learn more on TE.com/trainingcenter.
