Overview

Insulation Piercing Connectors EP type is specifically designed for connecting a street lighting conductor from an LV ABC to a lamp wire.  

 

EP Connectors can also be used with 1500V DC considering that the maximum carrying capacity of the EP connector is 63A RMS.

 

These connectors are made of :

  • Two bodies in anti UV black resistant thermoplastic fiberglass reinforced
  • Two connecting blades in tinned copper
  • One protected steel bolt M6 equipped with a metallic shear head nut of
  • 10 mm is a standard version or 13 mm if requested
  • One flexible fixed end cap that allows inserting small lamp wires
  • Seal compound to improve the water-resistance integrity

Answer: No, by construction, all exposed metallic parts are out of potential during and after connector installation.

 

Question: Is it possible to reuse TE's EP Insulation Piercing Connector already installed?

Answer: No, our EP connectors are not designed to be reused after dismantling.

 

Question: Do I need to strip the cable before installing EP IPC in order to connect the street light?

Answer: No, EP connectors are equipped with metallic baldes which will pierce the insulation of the cables and establish a reliable electrical contact between the conductors.
