APT bench machines are available in two versions: the 5A with automatic precision adjustment controlled by the crimp quality monitor (CQM) and the 5E with manual precision adjustment. Using CQM, the APT 5A provides 100% inspection and automatic adjustment of crimp height. If a questionable crimp is detected, visual and audible alarms alert the operator. The lower cost, manual adjust APT 5E is a simpler version with the advantage of faster set-up times but without CQM capability.

There are few things in the world of electrical assembly that appear more straightforward than crimping wires to terminals. Stripped wire is inserted into a short metal tube called a wire barrel. EYE Check is a tool to help adjust the terminal front feed position on applicators more quickly and is especially helpful with smaller terminals. It consists of a software program (supports both Windows and Mac OS X operating systems).
