SFP+ Connectors & Cages Overview

SFP+ Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP+) Interconnect System
The SFP+ product family includes cages, connectors and copper cable assemblies that extend the use of the Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) interconnect up to 16 Gb/s.

Standard SFP+ interconnects transfer data at speeds up to 16 Gb/s and feature 20-position SMT connectors as well as cages in multiple configurations with elastomeric gasket or enhanced EMI springs to address EMI containment at higher data rates.

micro SFP+ connectors and cable assemblies are up to 50% smaller than standard SFP+ interconnects and feature 22-position connectors supporting data rates up to 10 Gb/s. micro SFP+ interconnects allow you to increase faceplate density while freeing up additional PCB space due to the board connector’s shortened length.

    Key Features
  • SFP+ Interconnects:
    • Supports data rates up to 16 Gb/s - meets requirements of SFF (Small Form-Factor) specification SFF-8431
    • Offers cages in single-port, ganged and stacked configurations - thermal or EMI enhanced stacked configurations available
    • Backward-compatible with SFP connectors
    • Offers heat sink and light pipe options

    SFP+ Cable Assemblies
  • Copper cables are supported for SFP+ to provide a cost-effective solution for short reach applications. An EMI "skirt" is applied to the backshells, in compliance with SFF specification SFF-8432. Active and passive equalization are offered, with a simple pull-to-release latch mechanism.
