Having an understanding of our customers' concerns, and working with a group of experts to address those needs motivates me greatly.

Introduction: I am a product manager responsible for the strategy and performance of TE’s high voltage products for the hybrid and electric industrial and commercial transportation market. Based in North Carolina, I am currently focused on charging solutions for industrial and commercial vehicles. I have a background in operations and managing our global supply chain, with experience in the transportation and medical industries.

1

Why did you choose to join TE?

I joined TE via the Supply Chain Rotational Program. During this period, I got exposure to the transportation and medical industries. After that, I joined our Industrial and Commercial Transportation business unit, learning the ins and outs of our expansive operations, before moving to product management. The size and scope of TE are what appealed to me most then, and continue to excite me now: with so many industries we touch on, there is always room to grow.

What are your customers’ biggest challenges right now?

Commercial electric transportation poses many interesting challenges for designers: how to keep charging setups cost-effective while ensuring fast charging speeds. This means delivering enough power to get charging time for an on-highway vehicle from several hours to one hour or less. This has to remain safe and reliable, even in less-than-ideal conditions.

3

What industry trends are you most excited about?

I'm excited to see where high-power charging technologies go next to significantly reduce charge times for heavy-duty vehicles. Also, I'm excited to see crossover into the recreational vehicle market. I think it will be exciting to see personal watercraft or snowmobiles get access to quiet, instant torque and acceleration like you see with motorcycles and electric cars on the market today.

4

Where do you think the truck, bus, and off-road industries will be in 10-20 years from now?

In as soon as 5-10 years, I believe we will start seeing heavy-duty charging capabilities become much more common-place. Especially as government incentives and environmental concerns pick up the pace, there will be much more electric vehicles in our market.

It’s hard to say where we’ll be as far out as 20 years, but I think the majority of the vehicles both on and off-road will be powered by alternative energy and we’ll see additional features like automated charging more widely available.

5

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I get to engage heavily with customers and am able to collaborate with a wide variety of functions on a daily basis. Having an understanding of our customer's concerns, and working with a group of experts to address those needs motivates me greatly.
