All reports of potential violations are taken seriously and investigated with the oversight of the Office of Ombudsman. The Office of Ombudsman acts as an independent, impartial, and confidential resource with whom employees, suppliers, investors, customers, and other third parties can ask questions or address concerns about potential violations of the Guide, laws, policies, regulations, safety, or ethics.

Reporting directly to the Audit Committee of the TE Board of Directors, the Ombudsman ensures that all reported issues are thoroughly investigated and resolved. In addition, the Ombudsman and the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer regularly meet with the Compliance Committee, which includes members from TE’s Senior Management team, to review significant issues and trends.

We encourage those with concerns to contact the Office of Ombudsman by telephone, via the toll-free global ConcernLINE, or through the ConcernNET website. Reports can also be made anonymously.

In many cases, we took corrective actions or otherwise made improvements to benefit the company and our employees. In other cases, the reporting process provides us with valuable insights and opportunities to be proactive and innovate.

Employees are the safe keepers and promoters of TE core values, so we want them to ask questions about ethics and compliance issues, especially when an answer may not be clear. We also encourage our employees, as well as third parties, to report promptly any behavior or incident that is inconsistent with our Guide to Ethical Conduct (Guide), our policies, and/or applicable laws. Employees are strongly encouraged to report issues or concerns to their supervisor, human resources, law department, or the Office of Ombudsman.

What’s the EMEA Ombudsman?

The EMEA Ombudsman is a member of TE’s global compliance team.  The EMEA Ombudsman functions as the primary point of contact for employees residing in Austria, Belgium, France and Portugal to confidentially raise concerns and report issues related to ethics and compliance, and also handles concerns reported by suppliers, investors, customers, and anyone else outside of the company who reports a concern through the EMEA Ombudsman’s office.

What’s different?

The EU reporting platform differs from TE’s global reporting platform primarily in terms of the scope of reportable matters.  TE’s global reporting platform accepts reports that span the full range of possible reportable concerns.  In contrast, to comply with certain legislation in various EU countries, the EU reporting platform is primarily focused in the areas of accounting, internal accounting controls, auditing matters, corruption, banking, and financial improprieties.  In certain countries, locally applicable law limits the types of issues that can be reported through our telephone hotline (the ConcernLine) or web-based reporting site (the ConcernNet).

What’s the same?

In EMEA, as in all other regions of the world in which TE operates, employees are encouraged to raise their concerns directly by addressing them with their management, HR, or Law Department teams, as that is usually the best approach.  TE employees are strongly encouraged to help our company to live up to the standards set forth in our Guide to Ethical Conduct, with the goal of fostering the highest ethical standards as a good corporate citizen.  All reported matters will be taken seriously and addressed fairly, confidentially, appropriately, and timely.  Retaliation for good faith reporting will not be tolerated, and misuse of our reporting process will be addressed through appropriate disciplinary or other action.
