The Mars rover Curiosity landed on August 6, 2012, with the mission to study the planet's climate and geology to see if environmental conditions could have once supported microbiological life.
TE Connectivity engineers created the high-voltage relay used in the Curiosity rover's chromatography tool to study chemistry relative to supporting life on Mars. We've designed the relay to minimize weight and save space and to survive the rigors of space and the harsh environment found on the planet. The chromatography tool, as well as the rover itself, still functions superbly one year into the mission.
