Thermistors: sturdy, predictable, and easy to use

A thermistor is a temperature coefficient resistor that can have either negative or positive temperature coefficient of resistance, causing the resistance value to decrease or increase when temperature increases. We offer different types of thermistors, NTC resistors, PTC thermistors, leaded thermistors, and SMD thermistors. Our portfolio includes Neohm and Citec thermistors. Our products have a power rating of either .1W or .125W and offer a resistance as low as 1.5KΩ or as high as 68KΩ.

Our thermal resistors or thermistors are made of metallic oxides, is pressed into a bead, cylindrical, or disk shape, and then encapsulated in epoxy resin, glass, baked-on phenolic, or painted.  The ideal shape usually depends on what material is being monitored, such as a solid, liquid, or gas. The user should choose a shape that allows maximum surface contact with the device whose temperature is being monitored. A thermistor must be connected to the monitored device using a highly thermally conductive epoxy or paste glue. It can be embedded in a system or surface mounted. Unlike other resistors, thermistors are nonlinear. The use of thermistors is to regulate temperature and ensure safe operation. Most products that require heating or cooling protection circuits need thermistors. They are commonly used in digital thermometers, in cars to measure coolant and oil temperatures, and in household items like ovens and refrigerators.
