Overview

Protect your assets from damage and increase the safety of your personnel. Our cable cleats are robust and durable to provide strong mechanical performance for highly reliable protection.
cable cleats

To serve a wide application range our Cable Cleats, also known as Cable Clamps, are available as single, dual and trefoil configurations and are engineered to withstand harsh environments.

Made from impact-resistant, UV-stabilized, halogen-free, polymeric flame-retardant V0 material that is UL certified, they perform under extreme temperatures from -40°C to +120°C (-40°F to +248°F).

Tested according to IEC 61914:2021, our Cable Cleats provide high resistance to electromechanical forces during short circuit conditions, without causing damage to the cables. They also ensure an excellent mechanical performance due to their innovative rib design and glass fiber reinforced material.

An easy and fast installation is achieved thanks to their simplified design without any need for reinforcing accessories. The flat surface of the cable cleat allows different stacked configurations without special hardware or height adapters. Our Cable Cleats are range-taking to fit cables with an outer diameter up to 135 mm (5.31 inches) and are suitable for both metric and imperial sized hardware.

The interlocking EPDM molded inserts accommodate cable expansion, contraction, and vibration, as well as offer an increased level of asset protection and reduce mechanical load in vertical applications. The stainless-steel hardware offers high corrosion resistance and mechanical performance.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What are TE's Cable Cleats made from?

Answer: Each cleat body of our cable cleats is made from impact resistant, halogen-free, UV-stabilized, V0 flame-retardant polymeric material. The hardware components are made up of stainless-steel grade SS304 to perform under harsh environmental conditions (other grades available upon request). Rubber inserts are also manufactured using high performance UV-stabilized, halogen-free elastomeric compound.

Question: What is their impact resistance classification?

Answer: Our Cable Cleats are classified as “Very Heavy” according to their resistance to impact, which is the highest level as per IEC 61914:2021.

Question: What is the application temperature range of TE’s Cable Cleats?

Answer: Our Cable Cleats comply with the mechanical testing requirements of IEC 61914:2021 for applications at minimum temperatures of -40°C (-40°F) and maximum temperatures of 120°C (+248°F).

Question: How do I calculate the spacing between the Cable Cleats?

Answer: The formula given in the international standard IEC 61914:2021 can be used as a reference to calculate the electromagnetic forces between conductors. This formula gives a simplified approximation of the forces between conductors involved during a short circuit assuming that the cables are rigid and static, and it is based on symmetrical fault current waves with no DC components.

Ft = 0.17 x ip2 / S

Where:

Ft = maximum force on the conductor (N/m)

ip = peak short-circuit current (kA)

S = center to center distance between conductors (m)

Calculated Ft can then be compared to the mechanical strength of the cleats and the spacing can be determined.
