TE News: TE Connectivity simplifies installation and optimizes performance

TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, has introduced a field-installable version of its space-saving industrial mini I/O connector system. With the new two-piece connector, installation time can be cut by as much as two-thirds.

Designed for premier performance 

The new field-installable connector is designed to cut installation time and reduce total applied cost. The innovative piercing termination decreases the time usually needed to terminate the wires through soldering. And the field-installable connector system can be used for installations with DIN rail equipment, PLCs, motor drives, robotics, and other applications running in environments subject to shock and vibration and/or where the need to save space is of particular importance. Additional benefits include:

Quick and easy installation — The mini I/O connectors consist of a termination unit and a rugged diecast outer housing. The streamlined design allows for minimal wire preparation and virtually eliminates the need for additional tools.

Minimal downtime — Two interfaces (Type 1 and Type 2) reduce the chances of unwanted mismating, and a compact metal latching mechanism prevents accidental pull-out and unmating. These features, combined with high retention of the board connectors, limit potential system downtime for enhanced productivity.

Trusted reliability — The mini I/O connectors are one-quarter the size of conventional RJ45 plugs and their wire-to-wire and board-to-board solutions provide reliable serial, bus, and Ethernet connections in even the most demanding industrial applications.

Signal path design — The 360-degree EMI shielding and highly reliable signal security are provided for by the connector’s signal path design.
