The dedication and team focus on accomplishing goals is one of the things I enjoy most about TE.

T. Mapson, lives in North Carolina and is responsible for leading the finance functions for TE Connectivity’s Global Automotive business unit. This is his fourth role since joining TE Connectivity ten years ago. His prior roles with TE Connectivity included leading finance activities for our European Automotive business unit as well as our Industrial & Commercial Transportation business unit and managing the Internal Audit team. He grew up and resided most of his life in Detroit, Michigan but also lived six years in London, England and Frankfurt, Germany during two different work assignments.

What experiences shaped your career?

Experiences that required me to venture into unfamiliar situations and learn new things.  A few examples are roles that were not completely defined and international assignments.  Moving into roles that had not existed before helped me develop a new set of skills and living overseas broadened my perspective and opened up new ways of thinking.

2

What do you enjoy most about working at TE?

The energy and winning culture of our teams while at the same time the humble nature of our company.  The dedication and team focus on accomplishing goals is one of the things I enjoy most about TE Connectivity.  This not only includes striving to achieve common performance goals but also the sincere interest and support provided in helping individuals achieve personal goals.

3

What concepts and ideas excite you?

The vast array of possibilities in the automotive industry and the role that we play in making some of these ideas become a reality, especially as it relates to autonomous driving.  In recent years, we have seen many advances in technology around safety and driver comfort and the notion that the driving experience will make significant leaps in the near future is exciting.

4

How do you predict the company will be different in two years, and how do you see yourself shaping that change?

I believe TE Connectivity will continue to grow and expand as the world becomes increasingly more connected and I see the finance organization playing an integral role in helping management make good business decisions related to investments that will be required to support profitable growth.

5

What advice would you give a new candidate looking to break into the field of technology?

While a primary expectation is that financial books and records are well-maintained, try to learn as much as possible about the broader business.  This will mean interacting with other functional teams such as engineering, operations, and sales & marketing.  A major objective should be to become a strong business partner for the other functional teams.

The dedication and team focus on accomplishing goals is one of the things I enjoy most about TE Connectivity. This not only includes striving to achieve common performance goals but also the sincere interest and support provided in helping individuals achieve personal goals.
