Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor

Rugged and lightweight middle pressure sensor offers high accuracy over its lifetime and ASIL readiness according to ISO 26262.

TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensor solutions, today announced its new rugged transmission oil pressure sensor. At only 18 grams of mass this new sensor measures up to 100 bar, withstands pressure peaks of up to 200 bar, and features a burst pressure of greater than 500 bar. The sensor delivers an accuracy in the range of plus or minus two percent.

As a safety-relevant product the sensor is Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) B ready in the standard version and can meet ASIL C if required. The new product further expands TE’s portfolio of proven transmission sensors and platforms.

The product details of our new transmission oil pressure sensor reflects this capability in the technical profile plus the sensor is ideal for a digital sensor interface.”

Efficiency and comfort of automatic transmissions strongly depend on hydraulic actuation. Applications include standard automated transmission (AT), continuously variable transmission (CVT) and dual clutch transmission (DCT). A sensor serves to monitor the correct transmission oil pressure at all times. TE’s rugged transmission oil pressure sensor is specifically designed for this purpose and provides either an analog or a digital SENT signal. The innovative semiconductor strain gage uses Krystal Bond technology to achieve its high level of robustness. As a result, the sensor’s proof pressure is at least twice the operating pressure, making the sensor tolerant to pressure peaks. Packaged in a steel housing the lightweight component can be used oil-submersed and functions at operating temperatures between minus 40 degrees Celsius and 140 degrees Celsius.
