TE Connectivity has developed the NanoMultispring press-fit pin to meet the growing need for smaller pitch and packaging space in automotive applications. The NanoMultispring contact has been developed for PCB end hole diameter 0.6mm and satisfies the requirements in the IEC 60352-5.

What is the relevance of NanoMultispring?
Press-fit is a very successful technology to terminate printed circuit boards, and is widely used in the automotive industry. This technology is highly efficient and establishes very reliable electrical connections. Our NanoMultispring pin brings all the proven press-fit advantages to the next step in the miniaturization of automotive electronics.
Why is miniaturization so important?
As electronics enable safer, more connected, and greener cars, the number of printed circuit boards and connections are going up. However, packaging space is limited. We support the industry by offering a smaller contacting system with a smaller pitch. The NanoMultispring press-fit zone widens the use of our innovative 1.8-millimeter pitch NanoMQS interconnection technology. The NanoMQS compliant pin geometry ensures excellent press-fit behavior. The NanoMultispring press fit zone is the logical extension of the already successful Multispring press-fit family.
How is NanoMultispring manufactured?
To manufacture the small geometry of pins with NanoMultispring press-fit zone we have developed an innovative, high-precision and stable stamping tool. Our product engineers and tooling experts collaborated to optimize the product and its process. Its modular die concept fully integrates all the cutting, forming and other necessary manufacturing steps.
Is the application tooling available from TE?
Application tooling is available for the Insertion of single pins at high insertion rates as well as for the application of press fit headers and connectors with NanoMultispring. Because NanoMultispring technology and the related application tooling is from one source, the pin geometry and specialized tooling are perfectly adjusted and can make press-fitting up to 10 times more reliable than soldering – providing enhanced benefits for our customers.
