Cable-Actuated Position Sensors
TE's cable-actuated position sensors, proven reliable in automation, commercial vehicle, medical, and test and measurement applications, are easy to install and specified for applications requiring linear position measurement from 2 to 1,700 inches (50 to 43,000 mm).
Standard or custom string pot designs. TE offers specialized, high-volume OEM transducers, a standard line of shaft-driven rotational position transducers, as well as a line of magnetically damped inclinometers. Our cable-actuated position sensors and string potentiometers are proven to be reliable, cost effective, and easy to install. OEMs and end-users choose TE transducers because of their confirmed environmental toughness and broad selection of quickly-available options to suit virtually any position-sensing application.

Precision for OEMs
Our high-performance OEM cable-actuated sensors are compact, highly accurate and easy to use. The model PTX150 has incremental encoder output, is accurate to .05% and repeatable to .02% making it perfect for motion control of precision machinery such as medical scanning devices (CT, MRI). The model PTX101 has a voltage divider (potentiometric) output and is accurate to .1%, and is chosen for motion-control applications that require an analog output. Measurement ranges to 100" (2,500 mm).
Test and Automation Applications to 2.5m

Test and Automation Applications to 2.5m
The PT101 is suitable for structural test applications - as it has been for decades. The products feature excellent linearity (.1%) and an ulta-smooth mechanism for reliable, high-resolution measurements . Measurement ranges from 2" (50 mm) to 100" (2,500 mm) are available. Models PT510 and PT420 provide regulated voltage and current outputs. Model DV301 provides a voltage output proportional to velocity.

The M-Series string pots are miniature, high-performance and easy to install. Engineered for space-critical applications, these devices mount well on irregularly-shaped structures and follow motions to 136 G's. Measurement ranges from 1.5" (38 mm) to 40" (1,000 mm) are available. These are preferred sensors for monitoring vehicle suspensions, crash test deflection and structural tests. A voltage divider (potentiometer) output is provided.
