Application

Bi-Directional Pressure Transducer

TE offers low pressure bi-directional pressure transducers for various applications.

Manufactured from 316L stainless steel, the pressure transducers can be manufactured as intrinsically safe or non-incendive. The bi-directional measurement range is common for low pressure applications where both positive and negative pressure need to be monitored.  The system, such as a closed loop vapor recovery unit (VRU) can generate a negative pressure as ambient temperatures change. Option code "421" at the end of a standard model number defines the bi-directional range. With increased emissions controls and usage of SCADA systems for remote monitoring, the pressure measurement of low pressure exhaust gases has been a low cost option with great value.  Vapor Recovery Units (VRU's) monitor and recover vapors such as methane in oil applications.  The sensor is monitoring the positive pressure of the vapor in the tank as well as the suction during the recovery process.
