What is a current industry challenge that TE engineers are working on?
Reliability is key to the rail market. Design for purpose, quality, safety and after sales service are all part of our offering. TE's EVA products offer a unique solution for application in aggressive harsh environment. EVA has been in reliable service since the 1980's and our entire platform is based on this insulating material. EVA can be installed in the toughest environments such as coastal, industrial and in tunnels where insulators are not cleaned by naturally occurring rain.
What has been your favorite / most interesting project that you are working on?
One of my team's favorite projects in recent times was the design, development and qualification of a complete range of insulators to serve the French rail market. We have developed a great working relationship with the French national players and installers, providing products, local language technical support and engaging in new developments from the track design stage.
What inspires you? How do you approach tough problems?
Supporting our customers to solve tough challenges every week makes our projects in rail very interesting and satisfying. In order to solve tough problems - we spend time in the field with maintenance engineers, installer engineers and catenary designers and work with our customers as partners, often as a joint development team. This collaborative approach is key to successful project execution.
