The 2017 Productronica show will bring together the entire value chain of electronics manufacturing and TE Connectivity will be there with a portfolio of technologies that leverage decades of innovation and experience in Power Distribution, Miniaturization and Data Connectivity solutions.

 

TE’s latest innovations in End-to-End Connectivity Solutions will be on display, including our most current advancements in terminal and connector technology as well as the leading-edge tooling needed to apply them. We'll also have our leading experts in the booth every day of the event, giving you the chance to learn more about TE Connectivity. 

POWER DISTRIBUTION

Changing consumer attitudes, tighter government regulation and technology advancements are driving the uptake of hybrid and electric vehicles. An ING report predicts that 100% of cars sold in Europe could be battery powered by 2035.

 

TE’s broad connector portfolio can be used across various applications from auxiliary to high amperage/voltage applications like fast charge. Our connectors have a great packaging size, are touch safe and meet tough EMC requirements. We also offer patented technology that helps the automakers ensure that the connectors are mated securely as the vehicle leaves their factories. This provides a safer connection as well as improved traceability for the automaker.

High amperage/voltage connections require robust machines that can handle the high crimp forces required for proper termination. TE Connectivity’s new GII+ terminator features a robust housing and strong mechanical components to handle wire sizes up to 25mm2, all in a compact size. Based on TE’s highly successful GII platform, the GII+ terminator can be equipped with an easy-to-use Crimp Quality Monitor (CQM II).

 

Even bigger wire sizes such as those required for our AMP+ HVA 630 high voltage terminal & connector system can be handled by our robust and efficient HV 15 ton terminator.

MINIATURIZATION

Automotive innovation means that manufacturers are putting more and more electronic content in their vehicles but the size of cars is not increasing. At the same time they are under pressure to reduce weight. Therefore component size reduction and the use of light weight materials becomes increasingly important.

Products such as NanoMQS were specifically designed as miniaturized contactors for use in automotive harsh environments. In addition to product features ensuring automotive standards complaint vibration resistance (e.g. LV214, USCAR), we also offer pre-verified tooling solutions.

In the case of crimping, our new OCEAN 2.0 Applicator series was specially designed to handle the big challenges for crimping small wires.

This means TE can offer true end-to-end solutions including terminals, connectors, headers, pins and tooling

DATA CONNECTIVITY

According to Gartner, there will 61 million connected cars produced in 2020 (42M Embedded/ 17M Tethered). Already today 32% of drivers claim connectivity is an important car purchase criteria. Automotive data connectivity is being driven by 3 application areas:

  • In-vehicle networks, such as traffic info, vehicle tracking, internet applications and vehicle diagnostics, camera applications
  • Infotainment, such as vehicle dashboards, rear-seat entertainment and touch screen panels
  • Safety, piloted/ autonomous driving, control units for ADAS

 

Our portfolio including MATEnet, MATE-AX, HSD as well as 5G antennas from our recent acquisition Hirschmann Car Communications offer speed, flexibility and automotive robustness for data connectivity to sensors, devices, networks and antennas within the car and beyond.

From a tooling perspective, the newly designed CSP-5T Connector Press Fit Machine has been completely re-designed with an updated user-interface for easier set-up and operator control. It’s new exterior design has been manufactured with the operator in mind. Modeled after the latest in high tech designs, the new, sleeker design with built in led lighting provides operators with clear access and visibility into the shuttle area.
