Knowing what I really like to do and how I work, I never saw a dedicated management career path as ideal for me. TE’s Technical Career Ladder in parallel with the traditional, management career ladder provided a great opportunity for me to advance my role from Principal Engineer to Senior Principal R&D/Product Development Engineer. I now have the opportunity to stay focused on the ‘fun stuff’, collaborate with and continually learn from a wonderful variety of people around the world, and still have real opportunity for advancement; all without sacrificing what I do best. Along my career journey, I have had the opportunity to get my Six Sigma LDFSS Black Belt certification, generate and contribute to 45 + technical publications, 19 patent applications, work globally across divisions to provide training and consulting support, participate in Industry and company organizations, and much more!
TE’s Technical Career Ladder is a perfect fit for me. I love to create and innovate, so my early position as a Development Engineer was very rewarding. To advance my career, I moved into management to by accepting a position as Development Engineering Manager. But I quickly learned that managing multiple people and projects left little time for doing the creative, engineering design and analysis work that I really enjoyed. TE’s Technical Career Ladder program gave me the opportunity to become a Principle Engineer, leading a small team of engineers and designers, where I was able to focus most of my time on engineering rather than managing. I am now a Senior Principal Product Development Engineer and Six Sigma Black Belt with 74 patents which span a broad range of products including terminals, connectors, RF, surface mount and fuel cell interconnects which have generated over a Billion dollars in revenue for the company. Having a program to allow for advancement on the technical side is a win-win proposition.
In a world where everything is connected, every connection counts. Explore opportunities to build a great career.
