TE Foundation

The TE Foundation provides grants to U.S. organizations that qualify as nonprofit under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The grants are awarded in geographic areas of the U.S. where TE has a significant employee population and for project that are consistent with our global philanthropic guidelines as well as to support employee volunteerism in the community.

Global Philanthropic Guidelines

  • Fostering innovation through investments in education, with emphasis on math/science/engineering;
  • Increasing accountability through investments in energy and the environment;
  • Creating a sense of teamwork through investments in community development; and
  • Driving the highest standards of integrity through investments supporting ethical business practices and conduct.

Corporate giving is primarily focused in areas with the largest number of TE employees, as well as where our financial support can have the greatest impact.

TE Foundation Mission

The TE Foundation is dedicated to fostering a society which enhances the quality of life and in which all people can participate. By supporting community projects and interests through charitable grants TE is building stronger communities and, in the process, creating a positive work environment for its employees.

Grant Proposal Process

Grant proposals with the necessary information and documents must be submitted for consideration by the TE Foundation's Contributions Committee to:

Grant recipients must submit a final report which evaluates the results of the funded project.

Proposal Requirements

Proposals must include the following information:

  • Organization Name
  • Address
  • Phone
  • eMail Address
  • Organization Contact Name
  • Description of the organization and its purposes
  • List of governing board members
  • Current operating budget and sources of income for the organization
  • Audited financial statement and most recent IRS Form 990
  • Copy of IRS determination evidencing Section 501 (c) (3) status

We'd like to know more about your program. Please address the following questions as succinctly as possible.

  • Describe how the program, service or activity aligns with TE’s Global Philanthropic Guidelines.
  • Briefly describe the program, service or activity for which you are requesting funds, how much you are requesting, and your planned delivery, including goals and activities.
  • Briefly describe the need for the program, service or activity you propose to provide, and how many people you expect to reach. What documentation can you provide that your program is needed?
  • Will you be collaborating with other organizations or agencies on this program? Who are your collaborators, and how will this be accomplished?
  • List any TE employees who volunteer with your organization and their position if an officer or board member.
  • List the estimated cost of the program and your projected budget. Give the sources of funding that are both committed and proposed.
  • How will you evaluate the success of your program?
  • How have you used previous funding from the TE Foundation, if any?

Eligible Institutions

The TE Foundation limits grants to U.S. organizations that qualify as nonprofit under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The TE Foundation only considers proposals that meet the following criteria:

  • The proposal must align with the Global Philanthropic Guidelines.
  • The organization must display strong and effective leadership.
  • The proposed plan must be clear and compelling, with measurable and sustainable commitments expressed in terms of real results.
  • The proposed activity must be sufficiently visible to leverage additional support from other funding sources.

Requests from organizations within the TE Foundation's focus will be considered unless the following apply. The TE Foundation generally will not support:

  • Organizations in geographic areas where TE has few or no employees.
  • Individuals, private foundations, national organizations, service clubs, fraternal, social and labor or trade organizations.
  • Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, physical or mental conditions, veteran or marital status, age or sex.
  • Churches or religious organizations, with the exception of nondenominational programs sponsored by a church or religious group such as a food bank, youth center or non-sectarian education programs.
  • Political campaigns.
  • Loans or investments, or programs that pose a potential conflict of interest.

Deadlines and Decision Process

Requests receive preferential review if the organization is supported by TE employees as volunteers.

Applicants will receive a written notice after a decisions has been made.
