TE Connectivity’s (TE’s) Raychem screened separable connectors ELBC are used to connect XLPE cables to electrical equipment (e.g. RMU, switchgear, transformer, etc.) with outer cone bushing type “C” (EN50181) rated up to 24 kV / 800 A.
Made of a highly modified EPDM rubber, ELBC is fully screened and submersible, suitable for indoor and outdoor installations. For a wide range of applications, the design incorporates one body and five stress cones to cover cross-sections from 25 mm2 up to 500 mm2. The overall and cut-back dimensions are designed to take up minimum space in the terminal box.
ELBC elbow connectors are equipped with a capacitive test point for determining whether the circuit is energised. This test point is protected by a conductive cap.
ELBC connectors are compatible for use with both mechanical and compression lugs which can be ordered separately. Pre-engineered design of the mechanical lug optimizes contact resistance between the connector and conductor.
Installation is user-friendly, requiring only a standard socket spanner and no additional space. The separable connector is easily connected with the bushing and junction that comply to EN50180/50181 DIN47636. Accessories such as test rods, earth plugs and front terminals are compatible for use with the TE range of RSTI and ELBC separable connectors.
