Overview

Our Raychem CSJA-JCN Cold Shrink Joints are an “All-in-One” solution. They bring the cable’s concentric neutral wires outside of the splice and connect them at a single point to ensure full neutral ampacity is maintained. The joint body is made of silicone rubber that provides high dielectric strength, high tear strength, low tension set, and good low-temperature recovery. These Cold Shrink Joints have an integrated stress control enhanced by factory molded stress cones and a Faraday cage. They are compatible with both mechanical and compression connectors and no void-filling stress relief mastics are necessary. Each silicone splice body is factory tested to include AC withstand and partial discharge in accordance with IEEE 404.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What are the primary applications of TE’s Raychem Cold Shrink Splice CSJA-JCN?

Answer: Our Raychem Cold Shrink Splice CSJA-JCN is a single-core joint for jacketed concentric neutral (JCN) cables in underground applications.

Question: With what type of cable conductor can I use the Cold Shrink Splice CSJA-JCN?

Answer: These splices can be used with aluminum or copper stranded, compact, compressed, or solid round conductor.

Question: What are Cold Shrink Splices for JCN Cables made of?

Answer: The joint / splice body is made of Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) which provides high dielectric strength, high tear strength, low tension set, and excellent low temperature recovery. It has integrated stress control, enhanced by factory molded stress cones and a Faraday cage.

Question: What voltage range do Cold Shrink Splices for JCN Cables cover?

Answer: These slices / joints are qualified up to 42 kV by CENELEC HD 629.1, and up to 35 kV by IEEE 404.

Question: Can I use crimp connectors with the Cold Shrink Splices for JCN Cables?

Answer: Yes, both mechanical and compression connectors can be used with our Raychem Cold Shrink Splices for JCN Cables.

Question: With which standards are Cold Shrink Splices for JCN Cables compliant?

Answer: These splices / joints are qualified by CENELEC HD 629.1 and they are tested to IEEE 404.
