SHANGHAI, China –January 17, 2013 - TE Connectivity (TE) today launched the MAG-MATE connector with Multispring pin that streamlines the manufacturing process by eliminating the need to solder magnet wires to PCB (printed circuit board) connections in motors and coils. The new product supports TE’s efforts to increase manufacturing efficiencies, improve quality and ensure cost-effective end products.
“Eliminating the soldering process turns a new page for connecting magnet wires to PCBs,” said John Sandwell, global product manager of magnet wire products, TE Appliances. “Our product optimizes workflow, which facilitates a faster and safer assembly process while reducing chances for human error."
The connector increases efficiencies in assembly production and improves product quality by combining two breakthrough technologies. First, TE’s press-fit Multispring pin eliminates the need for soldering thereby preventing heat damage to the PCB mounted components. Second, the MAG-MATE IDC (insulation displacement connection) slot further streamlines the manufacturing process by automatically stripping up to two magnet wires of the same size while terminating, which removes the steps of pre-stripping or soldering.
TE’s new MAG-MATE connector with Multispring pin is ideal for industries that use magnet wires and PCBs. These industries include appliances, automotive, and industrial and commercial building. Advanced tooling is available for end users as well. For further information on the new MAG-MATE connector with Multispring pin, please visit www.te.com/multispringPR.
