Intern: Internships provide college students with challenging experiences relevant to their fields of study. An internship is a paid assignment for a student who has attained at least some academic preparation in a professional field. An intern may be an undergraduate or graduate students or Ph.D.. Interns will be working in a professional setting under the supervision of at least one practicing professional. Assignments are typically full-time for 10-12 weeks and normally do not count for academic credit.
Co-op: A cooperative education (co-op) experience is generally completed by a student over more than one semester. The concept of co-operative education is based on paid full-time work for one school semester followed by full-time school the next, rotating typically over a three- to six-semester cycle. It includes work assignments related to the participant's academic and career interests. Successfully completed co-ops may involve some sort of academic credit.
All individuals applying for an internship or a co-op assignment at TE Connectivity must meet the following criteria:
TE Connectivity pays a competitive wage to an intern or co-op based on discipline, completed years of education, and previous experience. Our salary guidelines are reviewed annually for competitiveness within the industry.
TE Connectivity interns and co-ops are currently eligible to attend corporate events and participate in training courses. TE Connectivity also generally offers relocation assistance for those students who qualify under Internal Revenue Service (IRS) guidelines. Many TE Connectivity sites provide company-subsidized cafeterias; interns and co-ops may benefit from both. TE Connectivity sponsored events and offerings may vary by location. Interns and co-ops are not elligible for health benefits or paid-time-off.
The following business functions typically participate each year in TE Internship Program: Accounting, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, Information Systems, Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality, and Tax.Department participation varies depending upon current business requirements.
Intern assignments are generally available during the summer months, starting in May or June and ending in August or September. Co-op opportunities may start at any time of the year; however, most follow the academic calendar of a university.
TE Connectivity intern assignments are typically 10 to 12 weeks, allowing ample time to complete a substantial project and make a significant contribution to our organization. TE Connectivity co-op assignments are generally six months, allowing the student to work on potentially multiple projects, while providing the opportunity to make a significant contribution to TE Connectivity.
If selected, candidates will receive a welcome packet and offer letter from TE Connectivity. This information will confirm the student’s start date and details on what to expect on the first day. Interns and co-op participants also receive special orientation presentations.
TE Connectivity interns and co-op participants are invited to learn as much as they can about TE Connectivity values, products, organizational structure, and business drivers. We also provide many opportunities to establish a network among fellow interns/co-op students and within the TE Connectivity community. Typical summer activities may include lunch and learn sessions with company executives, plant tours and occasional outside social activities which though not required are generally found to be of value to those who attend from a networking perspective. Examples of these types of activities would be a barbeque, sports events, etc.
