Pluggable I/O Products Overview

Pluggable I/O Products from TE Connectivity
The pluggable I/O interface offers significant advantages as a high speed I/O interconnect. With a standard equipment I/O interface and the flexibility of pluggable modules come the options for fiber and copper links, and various data rates and protocols.

TE Connectivity (TE) has always been a leader in the development of pluggable I/O standards. TE continues to be engaged in new pluggable interface standards to support the rapidly changing market needs for higher bandwidth, and remains and industry leader with the technical expertise required to deliver superior designs for signal integrity and EMI at higher data rates.

    Key Features
  • Supports higher data rates than traditional copper interfaces (e.g., RJ-45)
  • Adds capability for optical cabling
  • Provides a standard interface at the equipment and allows customer to choose transceiver modules and cables based on the application
  • Modules/cables are configured for protocol, data rate, copper/optics, … offering flexibility at installation.
  • Standards supported include Fibre Channel, InfiniBand, Ethernet and SONET
    Applications
  • Any high density, high speed I/O application in Storage, Networking, Supercomputing, Telecom
    • Switches
    • Routers
    • Servers

Products

    zQSFP+ Products
  • The zQSFP+ (z-Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable Plus) connector and cage assembly is a high-density, high-speed product solution designed for applications in the telecommunications, data center and networking markets.
  • Overview
    CXP Products
  • The CXP connector and cage assembly offers 12 channels of 10 Gbps data rates for 120Gbps of total bandwidth in one-piece press-fit assembly.
  • Overview
    CFP Products
  • The CFP MSA (Multi Source Agreement) interconnect system is a new ultra high speed pluggable I/O interface. This interconnect system supports 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s, as required by the IEEE 802.3ba specification as well as other developing telecom protocols. The CFP connector features multiple channels, each supporting 10Gb/s with electrical performance surpassing that of existing 10Gb/s interfaces.
  • Overview
QSFP (Quad Small Form Factor Pluggable) Products
  • The QSFP interconnect system offers 4 channels, provide 3 times the density of SFP/SFP+ ports and 4 times the density of XFP. QSFP cages and connectors are designed for data rates up to 10 Gb/s, total 40 Gb/s interface, supporting Fibre Channel, Ethernet, SDH/SONET and Infiniband standards.
  • Overview
SFP (Small Form Factor Pluggable) Products
  • TE offers a complete SFP portfolio, including the original 20 position pluggable transceiver (PT) connector and single port cage. Overtime, we have extended this product family to include multi-port cages, lightpipes, EMI containment features as well at heatsinks.
  • Overview
    SFP+ Connectors & Cages Products
  • SFP+ extends the use of the SFP interconnect up to 10 Gb/s. The product family includes single and multiport cages with both EMI spring and elastomeric conductive gaskets for EMI containment, connectors and EMI plugs.
  • Overview
    X2 Products
  • TE offers a guide rail system that meets X2 standard specifications, offering 4 channels of data throughput operating up to 3.125 Gb/s. We offer both a stamped guide rail which is designed for press-fit application, and a robust die cast rail which is screw mounted. The connector is a 70 position pluggable transceiver connector.
  • Overview
XFP 10 Gigabit Serial Pluggable Products
  • XFP was developed to provide 10 Gb/s serial links for a wide range of applications. The cage/ plug interface features an intuitive latch system, gasketing features and was the first pluggable interface to incorporate patented riding heat sink technology for thermal dissipation.
  • Overview
    Pluggables - Direct Attach
  • TE offers a broad line of direct attach pluggable copper cables, supporting the SFP, SFP+, XFP and QSFP interfaces. These copper cables are designed to meet the respective industry standard specifications and are cost effective solutions for short reach applications. TE can also custom engineer these cables to specific system architectures.
  • Overview
PARALIGHT™ Active Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies
  • PARALIGHT™ Active Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies transmits and receive channels up to 5 Gb/s per channel. The cable assemblies offer many benefits such as meeting Industry Standards (SFF-8470), internally terminated optics, differential data I/O per InfiniBand version 1.2.1 as well as asynchronous, internally AC coupled inputs and outputs.
