End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive 2000/53/EC
Directive 2000/53/EC (ELV) Compliant
ELV requires that products be free of mercury, cadmium and lead as of 2003-7-1. Lead can still be used as an alloying additive in copper, steel and aluminum and in solderable applications.
Directive 2002/95/EC (RoHS) Compliant
RoHS requires that certain electrical and electronic products be free of mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE and lead as of 2006 -7-1. Lead can still be used as an alloying additive in copper, steel and aluminum. Decabromodiphenyl ether can still be used. These products comply with the RoHS and ELV directives.
Not RoHs or ELV Compliant
These products do not comply with RoHS or ELV directives. Consequently, they SHOULD NOT be used in any application requiring RoHS or ELV compliance.
RoHS/Not ELV Compliant
These products comply with the RoHS Directive but NOT the ELV Directive. These products utilize exemptions that are not allowed in the ELV Directive. Typical examples are lead in compliant pin connector systems (pressfit connectors) and cadmium in electrical contacts.

These products comply with the ELV Directive but do NOT comply with the RoHS Directive. However, these products may be suitable for use in RoHS applications where there is a product based exemption for lead in solders, such as the server, storage, or network infrastructure exemption.
Not Reviewed for RoHS/ELV Compliance
These products have not yet been reviewed for RoHS/ELV compliance.
Not in Scope RoHS, ELV, or RoHS/ELV
These typically would be products that are not electrical or electronic in nature nor would be used in electrical/electronic equipment covered by these Directives.
