Joan Wainwright is Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications and Channel Business Unit at TE Connectivity, one of the world’s largest providers of products and solutions that connect and protect the flow of power and data in virtually every industry. With fiscal 2011 sales of $14 billion, TE Connectivity has approximately 100,000 employees in 50 countries.

As the head of Marketing and Communications, Ms. Wainwright leads the external and internal communications, corporate branding and reputation, government relations and philanthropic programs for the company. Additionally, Ms. Wainwright has responsibility for the company’s eBusiness, and customer service.

Ms. Wainwright joined TE Connectivity from Merck & Co., Inc., where she served as Vice President, Public Affairs. Prior to that, she served in the Clinton Administration as Deputy Commissioner of Communications for the U.S. Social Security Administration. Ms. Wainwright has worked in the communications and public relations departments at the University Health System of New Jersey, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the University of Delaware and Villanova University.

An accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America, Ms. Wainwright holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Delaware, Delaware, U.S. and a Master of Business Administration from Temple University, Pennsylvania, U.S.
